ABSTRACT
The nutrient changes during earthworm mediated vermicomposting were carried out at the Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Raichur during September to December, 2010. The analysis of nutrients in different substrates before and after vermicomposting indicated that some of the substrates are rich source of macro- and micro-nutrients. Parthenium and cassia weeds are rich source of zinc, copper and iron and hence can be blended along with other substrates to get micronutrient rich vermicompost. Cotton, mulberry and pigeonpea stalks are also rich in zinc and iron and the same could be recovered along with fairly higher levels of nitrogen phosphorous and potassium if subjected to vermicomposting.
Key words :
Earthworm, Eudrilus eugeniae, nutrient status, vermicomposting.
