ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT . A study on bio-organic conversion of different sericulture wastes viz., mulberry, non-mulberry silkworm (Eri silkworm rearing wastes) and cattle dung was taken up by utilizing earth worm species suitable for vermiculture ( Eisenia foetida and Eudrilus eugeniae) to evaluate the nutrient status. Among the different combinations of silkworm wastes used more nutrients was observed in 50% of mulberry and Erisilkworm litters by recording 0.58% of Nitrogen (N), 0.29% of Phosphorus (P) and 0.95% of Potassium (K) and 0.35% N, 0.19% P and 0.77% K, respectively. With respect to secondary nutrients, it was 32 Cmol, mol (P+) kg and 138.2ppm of Sulphur (S), 5.80 ppm of Copper (Cu), 8.20 ppm of Manganese (Mn), 7.28ppm of Iron (Fe), 6.80ppm of Zinc (Zn) and compare eri silk worm litter secondary nutrients, it was 21.80 C mol ca+ mg, mol (P+) kg and121.95 S of ppm in Cu, 5.30 ppm of Mn, 6.50 ppm, Fe and 4.90 ppm of Zn and 5.30 ppm respectively. The study concludes that the normal vermiculture practice and cattle dung alone achieve in higher amount of nutrients but they can be replaced by 50% mulberry silkworm litter or 50%, 75%, and 100% silkworm litter with affecting the vermicompost produced.
