ABSTRACT
The present study was carried out to quantify the vibration evaluation and the effect of vibration on the operator's health. The experiments were conducted during cultivator operation in College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, OUAT, Bhubaneswar by selecting 33 subjects of different age group. Apart from vibration measurement, the physiological parameters of the subjects like heart rate, oxygen consumption rate, body temperature etc. were also measured. The selected subjects were personally interviewed. From the study it was observed that the peak vibration during field operation was recorded in the frequency range of 4 – 8 Hz. More than 50% i.e 17 operators are suffering from regular stomach pain, low back pain, 13 percent of the operators are suffering from head ache, finger blanching and 26 percent of the operator were suffering from both low back pain and finger blanching. Among the different body parts, the discomfort score was found to be more in neck, lower back and foot ankle of the operator.
