ABSTRACT
An experiment was carried out at Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, to find out the influence of different organic manure combinations on growth, yield and quality parameters of onion. Application of FYM + Panchagavya (3%) and FYM + bio-fertilizers were found effective and showed better performance on growth parameters (plant height (46.92 cm), number of leaves (8.36) and neck thickness (12.94 mm) and yield (17.04 t/ha) which was on par with RDF (125:50:125 kg NPK/ha+ FYM 30 t/ha). The quality parameters like total soluble solids (TSS), shelf life of onion were increased by the application of organic manures with bio-fertilizers, while sprouting, rotting percentage decreased significantly. Conventional recommended package (NPK + FYM) had given better return in comparison with organic manures, but use of on farm inputs can reduce the cost of cultivation which can increase B: C ratio.
