ABSTRACT
An experiment under field conditions was conducted under subtropical environment of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh to work out the influence of biofertilizers on quality attributes and economic aspect of strawberry. The experiment was carried out in randomized block design with nine treatments and three replications. The experimental material (biofertilizers) i.e. treatments were Vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae (VAM), Azotobacter, Azospirillum and Phosphobacter. At the time of planting strawberry runners uniform in size were treated with different levels of biofertilizers viz. Vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae @ 8kg and 12 kg ha-1, Azotobacter @ 5 kg and 7 kg ha-1, Phosphobacter @ 5 kg and 7 kg ha-1, Azospirillum @ 5 kg and 7 kg ha-1 and water treated as control along with recommended dose of fertilizers. Observations were made to ascertain the difference in the influence of treatments on the quality and economics of strawberry. Among the applied treatments Azotobacter @7 kg ha-1 recorded highest 1.31 specific gravity (16.53%) over the control treatment, Azotobacter @ 7 kg ha-1 recorded best juice content 92.37 %, the highest pH 3.79 was noticed with Azotobacter @ 7 kg ha-1 ,VAM @12 kg ha-1 showed maximum total sugar (%) content 6.1 which is 19.67% more compared to control, reducing sugars content noted highest 5.2 % with VAM @12 kg ha-1 which is 36.53% more than control, non-reducing sugars 1.52% was observed maximum in control, the maximum vitamin C content 59.12mg/100g was recorded with VAM @12 kg ha-1 and cost benefit ratio was recorded highest 1: 2.35 with VAM @12kg ha-1 all the applied treatments showed better results than control treatment.
