ABSTRACT
Elevation of India in to International market interns of production of gradable standards of quality Bivoltine raw silk producer has become the priority of research. Therefore, to put on a pedestal front of India in to International market as the producer of international standards of quality raw silk producer 'Cluster Promotion Programme (CPP)' was implemented in Palamaneru cluster under Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh beneath XI & XII five year plans during 2014-2019 in India for boosting the bivoltine sericulture development in coordination with Central Silk Board (CSB) and Department of State Sericulture (DOS) have joined together.
During the CPP period Bivoltine DFLs distribution (brushing) was raised from the bench mark level (0.45 lakh) to 9.62 as against 5.50 lakh target (2014-15), 10.52 vs 10.50 lakh (2015-16), 13.57 vs 12.60 lakh (2016-17), 16.53 vs 16.00 lakh (2017-18) and 18.50 vs 17.40 lakh (2018-19) with a total quantity of 68.70 lakh against the target of 62.00 lakh (2014-19) with a progressive increase over target ranging from 101.0% to 174.8%. Against the DFLs brushing, the same were harvested @ of 66.1 lakhs during 5 years period among 29,606 farmers with an average harvesting ranging from 95.27% to 97.47% with an average harvesting of 96.62% DFLs. Yield of cocoon per 100 DFLs also recorded significantly ranging from 66.43kg to 78.50 kg/100 DFLs compared to the bench mark yield of 42.5 kg. The increase of cocoon yield ranged from 36.78 to 46.50kg/100 DFLs with an average increased yield of 40.71kg. Due to the adoption of Bivoltine sericulture by the sericulture farming community of Palamaneru cluster during the CPP period (2014-19), Bivoltine cocoon production was ranged from 639.1MT to 1305.3MT with a total of 4794.0MT fetching to the generation of Bivoltine raw silk production to a tune of 91.30MT to 186.5MT with a total of 684.9MT under CPP programme. Further the Bivoltine farmers under CPP could fetch higher market price ranging from Rs. 327.8 to Rs. 461.0/kg during the CPP period 2014-2019 compared to the benchmark market value (Rs. 230/- per kg).
