ABSTRACT
Path of productivity analysis in okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench) was studied during 2009-10 for fruit yield and its component traits in top ten progenies selected based on their per se performance from one hundred and twenty hybrids developed from extensive crossing of forty double cross derived lines (female) and three testers (male). Analysis of variance showed significant differences among the parents and hybrids. Greater variability in the parents indicated the possibility of getting higher heterosis in the progenies. All the hybrids selected exhibited maximum average expression for the characters studied and for the characters days to 50 per cent flowering and fruit diameter exhibited least average expression which is desirable. The top performing genotypes had positive value for fruit yield per hectare, fruit yield per plant, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight, plant height and number of branches and most of the genotypes showed least deviation for the traits days to 50 per cent flowering and fruit diameter.
