ABSTRACT
Weeding element is one of the crucial aspects for power weeder in wetland and dryland condition. Rectangular blade, sharp edge serrated blade and blunt edge serrated blade were fabricated and evaluated for its performance in wetland paddy field. The depth of cut blades was found to be 4 cm. The width of cut of weeder was 26 cm. The weeding efficiency and effective field capacity of weeder were varied from 80.01 to 85.78% and 0.037 0.046 ha/h, respectively. The highest weeding efficiency and effective field capacity was observed for blunt edge serrated blade. The highest average performance index of weeder was 216.68. It is concluded that instead of manual method of weeding, the power weeder is best for line sown paddy. The higher field capacity of power weeder can cover larger area as compared to conventional methods of weeding .
