ABSTRACT
Performance of raingun in terms of P-Q relationship, wetting diameter, water requirement cost analysis of raingun was checked in the field experiment. The performance of raingun of having 16 mm diameter nozzle was compared with that of traditional irrigation system. The system was operated at pressure of 2, 2.5, and 3 kg/cm2. The increase in operating pressure increases the discharge of raingun system. The radius of throw was also found to be increased with increased in operating pressure. The water saving in raingun irrigation system over traditional irrigation system was observed to be 54.93%.The increase in seed yield was 4 quintal/hectare in raingun irrigation method than that obtained in traditional method. On the basis of benefit cost ratio, farmers can adopt raingun irrigation system for vegetable crop.
