ABSTRACT
The present investigation on the evaluation of onion genotypes for growth and yield parameters under akola condition was conducted at Department of Horticulture, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola during rabi season of 2004-05. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with ten genotypes viz., Local-1 , Local-2, Local-3, Locals-4, Local-5, Local-6, Kalwan Local, Chandur Local, Akola Safed and Agrifound Light Red having three replications were studied for growth and yield parameters such as plant height , number of leaves per plant, days to harvesting, weight of fresh and cured bulbs (g), yield of marketable bulb per hectare (q) and yield of unmarketable bulb per hectare (q). Among ten genotypes Agrifound Light Red produced maximum plant height whereas maximum number of leaves per plant were produced by Local -1. The genotype Local-6 took minimum period for harvesting of bulb Maximum weight of fresh bulb, cured bulb, marketable yield per hectare were recorded in variety Akola Safed.
