ABSTRACT
Field experiment was carried out at Agriculture Research Station, Awashi, Khed, Dr. B.S. Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli during 2012 to 2016 for assessing the relative growth and yield attributing traits of Piper nigrum under shade and open condition. Experiment was laid out by RBD having three treatments viz., T1- bush pepper cuttings under 50% shade net, T2- bush pepper grafts under 50% shade net and T3- black pepper trained on open plantation of live standard and which was replicated by eight time. Different growth and yield parameters were evaluated. Very meagre information is available on performance of bush pepper under shade condition. Considering the growth and yield parameters of bush pepper cuttings and grafts under shade condition and pepper in open plantation, it may be concluded that the growth and yield of bush pepper cuttings planted at 1.0 m x 1.0 m. spacing in 50 % green shade net condition was significantly superior over the bush pepper grafts under 50 % green shade net condition and black pepper under open plantation.
