ABSTRACT
A field experiment was carried out during kharif 2010 at Hyderabad to study the performance of rice (Oryza sativa L.) varieties in relation to crop growth, yield, physiological parameters and agrometeorological indices under different date of transplanting. Results showed that all the growth parameters value and leaf area duration was recorded higher during growth up to harvest and significantly higher grain yield was obtained under July 23rd transplanting. Regards to varieties, MTU 1010 was registered significantly higher grain yield over other tested varieties viz., RNR 2354, RNR 2458 and JGL 384. Agro-meteorological indices indicated that number of calendar days, accumulated growing degree days (AGDD), heliothermal units (HTU), heat use efficiency (HUE) and heliothermal unit use efficiency (HTUE) were markedly affected by both dates of sowing and varieties. So as a conclusions the early transplanting of kharif rice give highest yield than delayed transplanting whereas in case of varieties MTU 1010 shows better results than other tested varieties.
