ABSTRACT
The present study is an attempt to evaluate the growth and instability of such important crop i.e. safflower. For the present study Akola district from Vidharbha region was chosen purposively as area under safflower is highest reported in Akola district of Vidharbha region. The study was base on secondary data pertained to the year 1990-91 to 2008-09. The results revealed that safflower is an important crop in Akola district, the growth rates for area and production of safflower were found significant. Instability studied in Akola indicates that safflower productivity exhibited less variation. It means that production of safflower over the period has been almost constant. Production witnessed highest instability as compared to area and productivity.
