ABSTRACT
The green lace wing, Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens) is well known predator of sucking pests like aphids in India. The feeding potential of C. carnea was studied in the laboratory conditions at 23.37 ± 1.59 0 C temperature and 58.73 ± 2.97 per cent relative humidity on bean aphids, Aphis craccivora Koch. The results revealed that the larvae of first, second and third instar consumed 33.68 ± 7.58, 86.88 ± 18.17 and 276.8 ± 37.90 aphids, respectively. The per day consumption of A. craccivora by predatory larva during first, second and third instar was 12.83 ± 1.39, 32.55 ± 6.17 and 70.63 ± 2.87, respectively. A single predatory larva consumed on an average 397.32 ± 38.86 aphids during its developmental period.
