ABSTRACT
A study was conducted to find out the profile characteristics of maize growing farmers in Virudhunagar Dist. It could be concluded that, fifty per cent of the respondents had agriculture alone as their main occupation, more than half of the respondents were found to have more than 5 acres of farm land, and majority of the respondents had more than ten years of farming experience and medium level of mass media exposure. More than 90 per cent had medium to high level contact with extension agency and the result may be due to the regular visits made by extension functionaries to the farmers? field and the farmers visit to the office of the ADA and more than ninety per cent of the respondents had medium to high level scientific orientation.
