ABSTRACT
Seventeen improved rice genotypes collected from MAS LAB, Dept of GPB, GKVK Bangalore were used in a randomised block design with two replication to assess the genetics of yield and its component traits under aerobic condition. The mean sum of squares for genotypes was highly significant for yield and its component traits, indicating presence of sufficient variability among genotypes studied. It is observed that, phenotypic and genotypic co-efficient of variance for most of the traits either high or moderate except for spikelet fertility, length of panicle, days to 50 percent flowering and days to maturity. The genotypes exhibited high heritability (>60%) coupled with high genetic advance (>20%) for yield per plant, tillers per plant and plant height, indicated the predominance of additive gene action for the expression of these characters.
