ABSTRACT
The rainfall data for the period of 31 years (1983-2013) of Thrissur in central agro climatic zone of Kerala has analyzed to know weekly, monthly, seasonal and annual probabilities at different levels of rainfall for suitable crop planning. It has revealed that in total amount of rainfall 73.64% during S-W monsoon period (June-Sep), 15.46% during N-E monsoon period (Oct-Nov), 0.542% during winter season (Jan-Feb) and only 10.34% during summer season is received. The maximum amount of rainfall is received during June (701.5387 mm) and minimum in January (1.622 mm) month. The analysis revealed that there is a high probability of occurrence of dry period from 1 to 16 and 46 to 52nd week in the zone. Supplemental irrigations are necessary in N-E monsoon season and summer seasons.
