ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted at Central Sugarcane Research Station, Padegaon, Maharashtra during consecutive three years from 2016-17 to 2018-19 with object to assess the ratoonability of advance sugarcane genotypes at different harvesting period of ratoon. It consist of three harvesting dates of ratoon 10, 12 and 14 months age with six genotypes viz. Co 86032, CoM 10082, CoM 0265, CoM 09057, MS 10001, VSI 434 in Split plot design with three replication. The experimental results found that ratoon harvested at 14 month age produced significantly higher cane and CCS yield however, it was at par with sugarcane ratoon harvested at 12 month age in respect to cane yield. Significantly the highest average cane weight, number of internodes and millable height were observed in sugarcane ratoon harvested at 14 months of age. While the ratoon of sugarcane variety CoM 0265 was found significantly higher for cane and CCS yield than the ratoon of other genotypes tested and found at par with Co 86032 and MS 10001 in respect to cane yield. The significantly higher average cane weight, tillering ratio, girth, number of internodes and millable height of ratoon crop of genotype CoM 0265 were recorded. The sugarcane variety CoVSI 434 recorded numerically highest juice quality parameters viz, brix, sucrose, CCS and purity percentage as compared to the other genotypes. While all quality parameters viz, brix, sucrose, CCS and purity percent were found non-significant in advance sugarcane genotypes and different harvesting period. The non-significant effect was noticed in interactions between harvesting period and different advanced genotypes.
