ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted for three years (2009-2012) on a loamy sand soil to assess the response of Biophos on castor (Ricinus communis L.) crop and compared the efficiency with application of inorganic phosphorus fertilizer. In general, 241 kg ha-1 seed yield has been improved after seed inoculation with Biophos @ 30 g/50 g seed under control (no P application) condition. However, most significant effect on seed yield (429 kg ha-1) due to seed inoculation of Biophos was noticed with the basal application of phosphorus @ 20 kg ha-1. The results suggested 17.4% yield improvement due to Biophos application on castor crop. The improvement of net return due to Biophos was observed about ` 13,000 ha-1. Moreover, 10 kg ha-1 improvement in available soil phosphorus in the castor crop was observed when seed inoculated with Biophos.
