ABSTRACT
A field experiment was carried out at Agronomy Instructional Farm, Chimanbhai Patel College of Agriculture, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar during rabi season 2018-19 to findout the effect of crop residues on soil fertility and yield of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in loamy sand. Total eight tretments of crop residue were laid out in Randomized complet block design. Treatment of castor shell @ 2.5 t/ha recorded significantly higher nitrogen, content in grain (2.34 %) and straw (0.759 %), nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake by grain (131.9, 24.7 and 25.7 kg/ha) and straw (53, 13.5 and 109.0 kg/ha) than the rest of treatment of crop residue. While, treatment T1(control) recorded significantly lower nitrogen content in grain (2.18) and straw (0.713), nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake by grain (101.3, 19.5 and 20.5 kg/ha) and straw (38.6, 10.1 and 79.5 kg/ha) over rest of the treatments to wheat.
Key words :
Crop residue, Castor shell, Cumin straw, Mustard husk, Nutrient uptake, Wheat yield.
