ABSTRACT
Risk aversion is acknowledged as wide spread phenomena in this region. The degree of risk aversion varies among individuals and is difficult for ascertain. The relationship between risk aversion behavior and the factors influencing it a regression analysis was employed. For these factors were identified from previous studies conducted. Most of the farmers in WVZ were risk averters (63 per cent) and only 37 per cent of farmers exhibited risk taking behaviour. In CVZ 58 per cent of farmers were risk averters and 42 per cent were risk takers. EVZ recorded highest per cent of farmers of risk averter i.e. 73 per cent and only 27 per cent were risk taker. The risk taking behaviour of farmers in the study area is mainly due the numbers of depends and size of farm. The age and education of farmers are less significant factors influencing the risk aversion behaviour of farmers.
