ABSTRACT
Ridge gourd [Luffa acutangula (L.) Roxb.] is a popularly known as Kalitori. Yellow mosaic disease caused by Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus, (ToLCNDV) belongs to begomovirus has recently been reported causing crop damage up to 100 per cent under favourable epidemic condition. Cultivation of resistant varieties is the most economical way of managing virus diseases of plants as the control of vector borne virus diseases is very difficult to contemplate. To identify sources of resistance against ToLCNDV screening was done under greenhouse condition at College of Horticulture Bengaluru during 2016-17. A total of fifty genotypes were evaluated for resistance against yellow mosaic disease of ridge gourd to identify the sources of resistance under insect proof net house condition through artificial inoculation with viruliferous whiteflies under insect-proof greenhouse conditions. None of the genotypes showed resistant reaction except Kalyani-I which showed susceptible reaction.
