ABSTRACT
To identify the vigour status through Accelerated ageing test on germination and some physiological characteristics of 15 rice landraces verities including germination percentage, root length, shoot length and vigour index, a factorial experiment in completely Randomized Design (CRD) was arranged with five treatments of and two replications. Rice varieties were subjected to accelerated ageing treatment for 0, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours at 420C temperature and 95% relative humidity. The rice varieties investigated have shown varying response for different parameters against accelerated ageing which remained significantly for germination percentage and vigour index but non-significant for shoot and root length respectively. Germination percentage and vigour index declined significantly with increasing the period of accelerated ageing. Interaction effect showed that verity Mohanbhog and Gopalbhog in almost all combination had capacity to perform well even under high temperature (420C) and relative humidity (95%). All the teat experiments performed concluded that Mohanbhog followed by Gopalbhog is the best variety among all fifteen varieties and Badshahbhog followed by Khasa is highly sensitive variety with respect to accelerated ageing.
