ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted at Zonal Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bengaluru to study the nutrient uptake and soil nutrient status with respect to secondary and micronutrients as influenced by different approaches and different forms of fertilizers application in soils of Kandic Paleustalf in eastern dry zone of Karnataka. The results revealed that significantly higher secondary nutrients (86.79, 53.60 and 47.65 kg ha-1 of Ca, Mg and S respectively) and micronutrients (6949.36, 341.63, 213.25 and 529.36 g ha-1 of Fe, Zn, Cu and Mn respectively) uptake was observed where soluble fertilizers were applied as compared to conventional fertilizers applied either as per RDF (Recommended dose of fertilizer) or STCR approach. However, there was no significant difference exists between the treatments for secondary nutrients in post-harvest soil, but, there was a significant difference for micronutrients in the soil. These results clearly indicate that application of soluble fertilizers through STCR approach (90 q ha-1) with 3 splits and 3 sprays of 19:19:19 would help to get higher secondary and micronutrient nutrient uptake and higher yield of maize crop.
