ABSTRACT
Participation of women is not limited to agricultural activities only but they are contributing significantly towards livestock management. The study is an in depth analysis of socio-economic profile of rural women and their role in various livestock activities. Therefore, the rural women play a significant role in agricultural activities. Several of these operations are carried out by women only. Apart from all these they are also involved in bringing fodder from field, milking, chaff cutting, feeding and cleaning of cattle, maintaining cattle shed, compost making etc. The present study was conducted in Jaipur districts of Rajasthan. From selected district, two panchayat samities (Dudu and Jalsu) were selected randomly by using simple random sampling. From the selected panchayat samities five villages from each panchayat samiti were selected by using simple random sampling. Similarly, from 10 selected villages 120 respondents were selected by proportionate random sampling technique. It was found that majority of the rural women belonged to middle age group, low level of education, were married, possessing 1-2 hectare land, belonged to middle income group, having 13 to 28 years of farming experience and medium category of extension participation. It was also found that majority of rural women had highest participation in 'Preparation of milk product' whereas a less number of rural women who participated rarely in 'Grazing of animals' in livestock activities.
