SEEMA K. ARBAD, D.B. DEOSARKAR and H.V. PATIL. 2016. Stability for yield and yield components in interspecific and intraspecific crosses of tetraploid cotton (Gossypium spp.). Green Farming Vol. 7 (5) : 1019-1023 ; September-October, 2016

ABSTRACT
The stability of 56 genotypes of tetraploid cotton comparising of 40 (intra-hirsutum and interspecific) cotton hybrids were produced in a line x tester design and their 14 (10 females and 4 males) and two checks (Bunny and NHH 44) were evaluated during kharif, 2013 at three different locations viz., Parbhani (E1), Nanded (E2) and Badnapur (E3). Stability analysis was carried out to study the genotype x environments interaction for seed cotton yield, yield contributing characters and quality parameters. The variance due to genotypes, environments and environment (linear) components were significant for all the characters studied. Both linear and non-linear component were equally important for all characters studied. The study of stability parameters revealed that the cross combinations viz., PH 1024 x NH 615, PH 1024 x PH 1009, PH 1060 x PH 1009 and NH 665 x PH 1009 were found stable across the environment with high mean, unit regression coefficient (bi) and low deviation from regression (S2di) for yield and yield contributing characters. Similarly the crosses viz., NH 656 x Suvin and PH 1070 x Suvin, were found stable across the environment with high mean, unit regression coefficient (bi) and low deviation from regression for quality parameters. Parental lines viz., PH 1009, PH 1060 and Suvin exhibited high mean, unit regression coefficient (bi) and low deviation from regression (S2di=0) and hence, they were found stable over the environments for yield, yield contributing characters and quality parameters
