ABSTRACT
The present investigation was carried out on fifteen genotypes of guava viz., GRS1, GRS2, GRS3, GRS4, GWS5, GWS6, GWS7, GWS8 GWS9, GWS10, GWS11, GWS12, GWS13, GWS14 and L-49 during winter season of 2010-11 in randomized block design with three replications of each genotype. The results were obtained for the quality and biochemical characters. The weight of pulp was maximum in GWS6 (205.89 g), followed by white fleshed genotype L-49 (201.20 g), whereas, the highest pulp content was recorded in white fleshed genotype GRS4 (93.07%), The fruits of genotype GRS4 was recorded the lowest weight of seeds per fruit (1.83 g) and number of seeds per fruit (198), whereas, weight of 100 seeds was also lowest in genotype GRS4 (1.07 g). The highest pulp: seed ratio was recorded in red fleshed genotype GRS4 (75.12). Significantly, the highest TSS was recorded in white fleshed genotype GWS6 (12.58 0Brix), acidity ranged from 0.38 per cent in genotype GRS4 to 0.49 per cent in genotype GWS14, ascorbic acid ranged from 180.61 mg/100 g in genotype GRS3 to 300.90 mg/100 g in genotype GWS6. The highest content of lycopene (4.69 mg /100 g) was recorded in genotype GRS4. Total sugar ranged from 6.24 per cent in genotypes GWS8 to 8.56 per cent in genotype GWS6, reducing sugar ranged from 3.71per cent in GWS5 to 5.45 per cent in genotype GRS4 and non-reducing sugar from 1.55 per cent in genotype GRS1 to 3.40 per cent in genotype GWS6. The highest content of pectin (1.37 per cent) was recorded in genotype GWS6.
