ABSTRACT
Studies conducted at UHS, Bagalkot, Karnataka brought to light ten species of pollinators, six species of insect predators, a parasitoid, three acarine predators and a couple of avian predators as beneficial fauna in the drumstick ecosystem. The ten pollinators were the bees viz., Amegilla confusa Smith, Apis florea Fab., Apis dorsata , Caratina (Pithitis) unimaculata (Smith), the wasps, Stizus vespiformis (Fab.), Odynerus sp., and leaf cutter bee, Megachile hera Bingham, the bumble bees, Xylocopa aestuans (Fab.), Xylocopa verticolis Lipelelier and an undetermined species of Xylocopa. The species of Xylocopa were the most potential and effective pollinators in drumstick. Out of the natural enemies recorded, six were predators and one was parasitoid, on the pests of drumstick. The lady bird beetle, Menochilus sexmaculatus Fab., a pentatomid bug, Eocanthecona furcellata (Wolf), Green lace wing, Chrysoperla carnea Stephens, a Gitonid, Cacoxenus sp., Preying mantid, Anaxarcha limbata Goglio- Toss, undetermined species of spiders and a parasitoid, Agathis sp. were noticed.
