A field experiment was conducted during samba season 2009- 2010 at Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute, Trichy Farm to study the effect of different amendments and two methods of planting on growth and
yield of rice in sodic soil. The experiment was laid out in Factorial R.B. Design with four replications. Method of planting viz., S 1 – SRI planting, S - Conventional planting was taken as factor A and different amendments viz., M - distillery spentwash 2 1 (DSW) @ 5.0 lakh lit ha-1 M – gypsum @ 50% GR + daincha @ 6.25 t ha-1, M – DSW @ 2.5 lakh lit ha-1 + gypsum @ 25%GR, , 2 3 M – DSW @ 2.5 lakh lit + gypsum @25%GR + daincha @ 6.25 t ha-1and M – No amendment, as factor B. Results revealed 4 5 that combined application of distillery spentwash @ 2.5 lakh lit + gypsum @25%GR + daincha @ 6.25% t ha-1 by adopting SRI method of planting (S M ) recorded highest crop growth characters, yield attributes and yield of rice crop. 1 4
