ABSTRACT
The study is focused on the hybrid vigour in three- way cross hybrids over their parents. A positive relative heterosis was observed for several quantitative characters such as Cocoon yield/10,000 larvae, Cocoon weight, shell weight, filament length, denier, renditta and neatness over mid parent value and better parent value in most of the hybrids. Among the 23 three-way cross F1 hybrids studied, maximum hybrid vigour for majority of the quantitative traits was expressed by (VO27 x VO3) x VD4 and has been identified to exploit commercially for the increased silk production.
