ABSTRACT
The present experiment was conducted in half Diallel Mating Design comprised with ten parents and theirs's 45 F1's. The parents and theirs's F1's were planted for analysis of their performance in Randomized Blostudy ck Design with three replications during rabi season 2011-12 at Norman-e-Borlaug crop research center, G.B.P.U.A.T., Pantnagar, U.S. Nagar (Uttrakhand). GCA and SCA variances were found significant in all the component characters. The ratio of analysis of variance for GCA effects showed higher then SCA effects for all characters indicated that, additive type of gene action was predominant for expressing all traits under studied. The parents NDYS-2018, PYS-7, PYS-2007-7 & PYS-1 was best general combiner for seed yield. whereas Parents PYS-2007-7, PYS-7, NRCYS-2009-2 & YSH-0401 was found best general combiner for oil content (%). Whereas parents Ragini, NRCYS-2009-2, PYS-1 and YSH-040 showed best General combiner for days to 50% flowering. The cross combination NDYS-2018 X PYS-7, NDYS-2018 X PYS-2009-7 and NDYS-123 X PYS-1 were showed positive and highly significant SCA effects for seed yield per plant. Whereas NDYS-2018 X NDYS-123, NDYS-123X PYS-1, PYS-7 X NDYS-123 and PYS-227-7 X PYS-1 crosses showed positive and highly significant SCA effects for oil content (%). The best cross combination for seed yield NDYS-2018 X PYS-7 involved both parents (GXG) are good general combiner whereas cross NDYS-2018 X PYS-2009-7 includes one good and other poor (GXP) general combiner and cross NDYS-123 X PYS-1 also had (PXG) general combiner. Additive and Non-additive type of gene effects which is flexible in nature.
