ABSTRACT
The main aim of this study was to study and calculate the total energy invested in each and every step of groundnut production and processing and to identify the maximum energy inputs. Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea), being the most economically important oilseed crop of the country, is chosen for the study. The outcome of the study implies that total energy gain by groundnut production is 9227.19 MJ whereas the energy usage efficiency is 1.38. A net loss of 34, 59,774 MJ of energy was calculated in process adopted by groundnut oil processing mill. This study will help to reduce the total energy consumed during the processes, which will further aid in sound management and policy making decisions.
