ABSTRACT
The hymenopteran gall former, G. asulcata Girault preferred flower bud stage for oviposition with a peak of 45.00 eggs /100 flower buds during 30th November and mean of 26.50 eggs /100 flower buds while larval population was in fruit bud stage (66.00) on 10th of December with a mean of 45.00 grubs /100 fruiting bodies. The average highest number of pupae (52.00) were found on December 10th and adult emergence was highest on 20th December observation (32.00) on fruit bud. From the present investigation it was confirmed that flower bud was the preferred stage for egg laying and fruit bud was the preferred stage for grub, pupa and adult. Screening of genotypes for resistance to gall formers revealed that out of 25 genotypes only three varieties ACA1X42, JNA1X42, ACA1*A1-4D were found to be tolerant to gall formers with 6.44, 7.50 and 6.71 per cent damage respectively to flower bud/fruit buds. Whereas, KA2 showed to be susceptible with 60.09 per cent damage of flower and fruit buds.
