ABSTRACT
Rotary tiller generally refers to breaking down soil aggregates into ultimate soil particles. One unit of animal drawn rotary tiller with three shapes of blades (L- shape, Reduced chord shape and C- shape) was developed and fabricated at workshop of Faculty of Agric. Engineering, Raipur. The effective field capacity of animal drawn rotary tiller (18 blades) was found 0.12 ha/h at a forward speed of 2.5 km/h. The field efficiency of 62.85% was observed during the field performance. The draft requirement of the developed animal drawn rotary tiller for different shapes is different that is for L-shape it is 378 N, for Reduced chord type it is 352 N and for C-shape it is 323 N this draft obtained from 12 cm spacing blades to blades, on all 6 flange. A similarly higher value of Mean Mass Diameter (MMD) of soil clod size was found maximum in C- shape of blades 42.13 mm and reduced chord type 29.47 mm compared to that of L- shape of blades 28.42 mm. The operational cost was found minimum and same in case of RC – shape and C – shape 375 ` / ha and maximum in L – shape was 384 ` / ha.
