ABSTRACT
Trait associations and path analysis were carried out with thirty five genotypes for yield and physiological characters in mungbean. The characters number of clusters per plant, number of pods per plant, chlorophyll content, days to maturity, harvest index and plant height showed highly significant positive association with seed yield per plant indicating the positive linear relationship of these characters with seed yield. Path coefficient analysis indicated that harvest index, showed highly positive direct effect on seed yield per plant. The characters viz., number of clusters per plant, plant height and number of pods per plant showed moderate positive direct effect on seed yield per plant. This suggested that emphasis should be given to these traits in selection programme for improvement of seed yield in greengram.
