ABSTRACT
It is always necessary to determine the response of different genotypes under variable agro-climatic conditions to find out the suitability. According an experiment was conducted to find out the suitability of seven varieties of okra in two different seasons i.e., summer and rainy during 2011 at Horticulture Instructional Farm, C. P. College of Agriculture, S. D. Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar. Where in seven okra varieties Arka Anamika (V1), Phule Utkarsha (V2), Gujarat Okra-2 (V3), Arka Abhay (V4), Perkins Long Green (V5), Gujarat Okra-1 (V6) and Parbhani Kranti (V7) were studied for growth, flowering and yield parameters. The experiment, replicated three times and laid out in Randomised Block Design. The results of experiment revealed that the variety Gujarat Okra-2 shows highest growth and earliness in flowering attributes during rainy and summer seasons. With respect to various yield attributes and yield also the variety Gujarat Okra-2 performed better over other varieties in both the seasons. Findings of study inferred that variety Gujarat Okra-2 (GO-2) may be used as a dual season cultivar.
