ABSTRACT
The research was focused on paperboard mill effluent using Vetiver for pollutant removal. It is an advanced technology to treat and polish the effluent. The floating platform supported the Vetiver to treat the effluent in hydroponics. The paperboard mill effluent has been imposed with Vetiver grass under various levels of effluent. The application with Vetiver has significantly influenced the physico-chemical characteristics of effluent. The experiments exhibited the increased level of pH, DO and decreased the EC, TDS, TSS, BOD,COD, total nitrogen and total phosphorus. However, treated effluent with vetiver system (aerated) exhibited as superior treatment with high pollutant removal efficiency along with maximum growth of root length and shoot length. In nutshell, the experiment revealed the pollutant parameters of effluent decreased to statistically significant levels for dual process of effluent polishing and treating.
