ABSTRACT
A field experiment was conducted to determine the effect of sowing on permanent bed and zero tillage with different mulch treatments for growth and yield of soybean and wheat crops in vertisols in central India during 2011-13. The result shows that the performance of soybean and wheat on permanent bed and zero tillage operation with crop residue has resulted higher biological yield as compared to the conventional flat bed methods. The grain yields of soybean and wheat were 1159 and 5598 kg/ha respectively in permanent bed as compare to 969 and 4996 kg/ha in flat bed sowing method. Under permanent bed system and zero tillage with crop residue treatment attained the higher grain yields of soybean and wheat crops were 1085 and 5701 kg/ha as compare to 1000 and 4981kg/ha respectively. Study revealed that the permanent bed sowing of soybean and wheat crops without tillage and crop residue treatment has given significant higher yield of grain as compared to conventional flat bed sowing.
