ABSTRACT
A field survey was conducted to study the micronutrient constraints in sugarcane growing Vertisols of Northern Dry Zone of Karnataka by GIS (Geographical Information System) technique. Results of the soil analysis and mapping by GIS technique revealed that, maximum area under deficiency of iron (77.41, 71.39 & 56.87 %), zinc (52.67, 48.51 & 58.97 %) and boron (69.24, 66.97 & 68.98 %) respectively was observed in Kesarkoppa, Shedbal and Marihal micro-watersheds. Where as, the available status of manganese and copper was sufficient but only small (20.21%) area of manganese deficiency was observed in Shedbal micro-watershed. Deficiencies of Fe, Zn and B in selected micro-watershed are mainly related to higher soil pH, low organic carbon and high CaCO3 content in the soil samples.
