ABSTRACT
The present investigation was undertaken to study the interrelationship and path coefficient analysis for grain yield and its components. Twenty seven hybrids obtained by crossing nine inbred lines with three testers using line × tester mating design were evaluated during kharif, 2013 along with nine parents and three standard checks for 12 characters. The genotypic correlation among the yield components revealed positive association of grain yield plant-1 with days to 50 % silking, plant height, ear height, ear length, ear girth, number of kernel rows ear-1, number of kernels row-1, hundred-kernel weight and grain yield plot-1. The path coefficient analysis at genotypic level revealed that the character, days to 50 % silking exhibited the largest direct effect on grain yield plant-1 followed by grain yield plot-1, ear girth, number of kernels row-1, days to maturity and ear height.
