ABSTRACT
A field trial was conducted to study the effect of different levels of N and K with and without biofertilizers on yield, nutrient uptake and their correlation by cowpea (Vigna sinensis L.) in lateritic soil of Konkan. The results indicated that the application of N:P2O5:K2O @ 30:50:30 kg ha-1 along with seed inoculation has given superior results in seed yield (17.59 q ha-1), growth parameters and yield contributing characters. The uptake of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu were also higher due to application of N:P2O5:K2O @ 30:50:30 kg ha-1 along with seed inoculation over control. In case of correlation height of plant, no. of pods plant-1 and weight of 1000 seeds had a highly significant and positive correlation with pod yield, while no. of branches plant-1 has significant and positive correlation with pod yield also highly significant and positive correlation between seed yield and uptake of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and S at both 5 per cent.
